Video Concerts

Video images projected on a large screen, with music of his own or by live musicians. A special experience for audiences in museums, theatres and cultural venues.

In a video concert, carefully selected video images are projected on a large screen while music plays, of Ewout's own hand, or performed by live musicians who join specifically for the occasion.

It is neither an ordinary film screening nor a concert in the traditional sense. It is a coming together of image, sound and silence: visitors take their time, let the images work on them, and experience the music as an integral part of the visual story.

Video concerts can be organised to measure for museums, theatres, galleries, cultural festivals and special venues that offer room for projection and sound.

Concerts with David Wurczel

A unique union of guitar music and video art. At the video concerts of Czech guitarist David Wurczel and Dutch video artist Ewout van Roon, guitar music and video art merge into beauty of sound and image. While David Wurczel plays guitar, video images by Ewout van Roon are shown on a large film screen or white wall, in settings ranging from the intimacy of a living room to arthouse cinemas and concert venues. The concerts typically last an hour, but can be adapted on request.

David Wurczel is a Prague-based guitarist and composer who developed a unique guitar technique he calls Rotando: a combination of rotating rasgueado, classical tremolo and an ‘orchestral approach to the guitar’, which often sounds as if several guitarists are playing at once. During the concert he plays eight original compositions and five arrangements, ranging from Puccini to gipsy swing.

For Ewout van Roon, it is about beauty in stilled motion, found in nature, in people, but also in a few drops of ink in water. Around fifteen short films together form the two-hour concert film, shown on a screen four metres wide.
